Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions about our work and giving, answered

How do you serve families in Haiti and the US?

Our support is tailored to local realities.  In Haiti, we provide funds to secure humanitarian assistance such as food, essential household support, emergency medical or transportation assistance, dignified burial support during times of loss.  In the United States, we assist Haitian and other immigrant families with short-term help for rent, utilities, food and other essential expenses during periods of finance disruption.

Why is assistance needed right now?

Families in Haiti continue to face severe instability, limited access to basic services, and rising costs.  At the same time, many immigrant families in the United States are experiencing sudden income loss due to work authorization delays, job disruptions, or unexpected hardship.  These challenges create urgent needs for short-term, essential support.

How do you ensure donations are used responsibly?

We are committed to transparency and accountability.  Assistance is provided based on documented need and available funding, and when possible, payments are made directly to service providers.  We maintain records to ensure all funds are used in accordance with our charitable mission and applicable nonprofit regulations.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Donations to our organization may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and no goods or services are provided in exchange for your contribution.

When you donate via our Zeffy campaign, you will automatically receive a digital receipt from Zeffy acknowledging your gift.  This receipt includes all information required for tax purposes, including the donation amount, date, and our nonprofit's legal information.  Zeffy processes all donations on behalf of our organization.

In all cases, we recommend consulting a tax professional if you have questions about deductibility and records needed as evidence.
